New Beginnings for The Settlers Online
Dear The Settlers Online Community,
Today marks a historic date for The Settlers Online. After 15 long and eventful years, Ubisoft Düsseldorf is handing over the reins to CipSoft, a new, trusted partner who will continue operating and developing the game.
This is a bittersweet moment for us, as The Settlers Online has and will always be a very special game for us. Its launch back in 2010 was a huge milestone for our studio and has had a significant impact on our growth and success.
Just as importantly, it kickstarted an exciting journey which we embarked on together with all of you, The Settlers Online community. Together, we made tons of great memories, engaged in inspiring discussions and – last, but certainly not least - played The Settlers Online. We are incredibly grateful for having experienced so many great moments with you both inside and outside the game.
However, the time has come for us to pass the torch to a new partner. We want to see the game grow further and evolve, and there is no doubt for us that CipSoft will be up more than to the task.
This journey is far from over! We’d be thrilled if you could show our friends at CipSoft the same openness that has characterized our time together. We’ll be proudly watching from the sidelines, knowing that you and CipSoft will work together and allow The Settlers Online to reach new heights.

A Letter From CipSoft
Dear Settlers,
Playing a game like The Settlers Online teaches you one thing early on: Great things take time. Planning, building, tweaking and improving rely on patience and attention to detail. We are reaching out to you today with that same mindset and spirit.
We are CipSoft. Going forward, we will be responsible for running and developing The Settlers Online.
We have been an independent game developer since our founding in 2001. Today, our team includes around one hundred people. We are passionate about creating vibrant online game worlds where people meet, build shared experiences, and stay connected over many years. What matters to us is not how fast something grows, but whether it lasts and holds firm in the long run.
Tibia is the game we are best known for. It started back in 1997 as a hobby project among friends. Today, it is one of the longest-running MMORPGs in the world, with a dedicated community in Latin America and Europe. Even after 28 years, we continue to release major updates, new content, and features. Recently, we introduced a fifth vocation.
Why are we telling you this? Because we believe that Tibia and The Settlers Online have something very valuable in common. A deep sense of community that goes beyond the game itself. Players who care. Players who contribute and face challenges together. Players who stay. That kind of commitment and continuity resonates with us and inspires us. It fits with our work and values here at CipSoft.
The Settlers Online is a game with charm, character and depth. We see what you have built over the years, and we are genuinely impressed by your dedication. We are grateful to become part of that.
That said, we want to be open with you. A transition like this takes time, both technically and organizationally. The game first needs to be fully transferred to us. Only then can we start getting familiar with all the details. We want to understand, listen and learn. So it will take a while before you notice any changes, and we can start working on the improvements you are hoping for.
During this transition, the game will continue as usual with its current team, working from our new office in Düsseldorf. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding if the path ahead is not always immediately clear, or if many of the questions you likely have cannot be answered right away.
We want you to know: we are taking this seriously. We want to develop and grow The Settlers Online with you in a responsible and lasting way.
We are looking forward to what is to come, and even more to sharing it with you.
